Capital city of German state Saxony: Bruhl’s Terrace
The capital city of German state Saxony is a cultural
centre famous for the Bruhl’s Terrace. Also called
the Balcony of Europe, it offers great views of the
Elbe River and stunning 18th-century architecture.
Check out the Zwinger Palace for its bell
pavilion, famous museum and art collection and a
nymphaeum, in honour of mythical Greek nymphs.
Even if opera is not your cup of tea, visit the
Semperoper opera house which is renowned for its
beauty and acoustics.
The 102m-long Furstenzug mural, comprising
25,000 porcelain tiles, is the world’s largest tile
mural. It is along the Lange Gang alley and
represents the 800-year history of the royal Wettiner
dynasty.
Also, visit the Schloss und Grunes Gewolbe, or
The Green Vault, to see the biggest green diamond
and the crown jewels of the court of Aurengzeb.
The period you are visiting also coincides with
the Filmnachte at the Elbe River banks. Held annually
between June and August, it is the festival of
films and concerts.
