A piece of Singapore will become history when the last train chugs out of
Tanjong Pagar Railway Station at 10.31pm on Thursday, June 30. By midnight, the
KTM terminal will become defunct and travellers will no longer be able to make
train journeys to Malaysia from there. AsiaOne brings you *NEW* photos
of the station in its last days.

Souvenir stands set up by KTM have been doing brisk business at the Tanjong
Pagar Railway Station. Those angling for mementos have a choice of the
run-of-the mill coffee mugs, keychains and T-shirts.
One can even get a real piece of the place. Old pieces of the silver-chromed
track will be sold at the station from June 30 for $200 each.
Push trolleys were introduced in 1885 and used by station inspectors to check
the railway each day. On Wednesday, when AsiaOne was at the station, the unused
trolleys have already been barricaded.
Most food vendors had already closed shop over the weekend, with only a handful
of operators remaining which sold drinks and light bites.
